William Ardlie
|
William Ardlie commenced
practice in Warrnambool in 1867. Retired partner John Ardlie is his
greatgrandson. |

|
In January 1897 J.S. Tait, grandfather of present partner James Tait, opened his practice in
Warrnambool |

In 1962 the Ardlie and Tait firms amalgamated to form
J.S. Tait & Co., which later changed its name to Taits Solicitors. |

Jack Powling
|
Jack Powling merged his century-old practice in Port Fairy. |

Bill Archer
|
Soon after, Bill Archer at Mortlake also merged his one-man practice, founded in the
1890s. |

George Mackay
|
George Mackay commenced practice in Warrnambool in 1891. In 1893 James Fletcher joined in
Fletcher and Mackay. In the 1920s, J.McD. Taylor became a partner of the firm, and the
firm’s name was changed to Mackay & Taylor.

Ian Taylor, son of J.McD. Taylor, joined the firm in 1953 and
remained with it until the mid-1980s. Neville Smith joined the firm
in 1968 and entered into the Mackay Taylor partnership in 1970. In
1983 and 1984, the firms of Trickett & Garside and Stock &
Kerr of Terang merged with Mackay Taylor. |

From their early days, both the
Tait and MacKay Taylor firms have had strong commercial standings in the area.
In 1999 Taits Solicitors and MacKay Taylor firms amalgamated to form Tait Taylor Lawyers. |

Peter Conlan
|
In 1952 Peter Conlan and Colin Leishman established the legal partnership of Conlan &
Leishman at Port Fairy. Colin Leishman's son Bruce joined the practice in 1985. |

Colin Leishman
|
In 2000 Conlan & Leishman merged with Tait Taylor
Lawyers. The combined firm now trades
under the name Tait Leishman Taylor at all locations.

The
amalgamated firm is well respected for soundness of law, fairness,
honesty, and its orientation to provide service to clients in
all areas.
Tait Leishman Taylor have offices at Warrnambool, Port Fairy,
